SPIRITUAL HARVEST IN THE FORMER SOVIET UNION

John 4:35 ‘Do you not say, there are still four months, and then comes the harvest? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already for harvest.”

Isaiah 52:7 “How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news...”

For 70 long years Communist doctrine worked hard to take away faith in God. Bibles were taken away and burned, and Christians paid the price with their freedom and they would spend many years in prison. But long-awaited Freedom from God finally came. Christians from all over the world prayed for that Iron Curtain to fall. And unfortunately over the years tens of millions of people over the years formed a spiritual vacuum.

The older generation and government leaders ceased to promote communist ideology, and the young generation left one shore, but not yet reached the other. This is the phenomenon that indicates the awakening of the younger generation in post-Soviet republics. To date, over 70% of believers in the church are young people. When the doors opened for the free preaching of the Gospel, our ministry team was one of the first to conduct Evangelistic campaigns.

The first crusade in his history, which was attended by more than 20,000 people, took place in West of Ukraine in 1988. We were shocked to see how more than 500 young people were saved in one meeting. Since those distant 80’s and to this day, our missionaries have been preaching the Gospel. Over 90% of people who came to pray for repentance were young. Young people are seeking God, and spiritual vacuum in the hearts of the young generation is filling with faith. New churches emerge in the Eastern Ukraine. We distributed Bibles, humanitarian aid, food and held meetings in dangerous areas.

For the last years God has helped us to open 630 new churches in many countries. Much can be said about active grace of God, the power of His words, wonderful testimonies of salvation and healing, but all I want to say is this: thank you for your prayer support during the harvest time.

All glory belongs only to the Lord.

Church Buildings

After the fall of the Soviet Union, Ukraine experienced a great revival, which was one of the strongest, most successful and longest revivals in Ukraine. Its effectiveness was so high that 40-50% of the population of many villages and towns came to God in a few years. Realizing that times were changing, and taking advantage of religious freedom, the Church of Jesus Christ finally came out of the underground and began to accept thousands of new people into its ranks. This led to the opening of churches and construction of church buildings. Understanding the economic crisis of Ukraine, missions from abroad came to help their Ukrainian brothers and sisters, since their economic development at that time was at a much higher level. Without individual consecrated people of God, as well as missions, Ukraine would have never had hundreds of new houses of prayer. A few years ago, the strategy of building large churches was replaced by the construction of modular mobile houses of prayer, especially in those communities where people began to turn to God through missionary work. Modular mobile houses require less money, but give more time to lead human souls to Jesus Christ.

Missionary Support

JESUS SAID TO HIS FOLLOWERS, “GO INTO ALL THE WORLD, AND PREACH THE GOSPEL TO EVERY CREATURE" (MARK 16:15).

Missionary work is the most important tool for spreading the Gospel to every corner of the world. When the Soviet Union broke up, Ukraine became the cradle of missionary work, sending out its young Christians to carry the Good News to people who wandered in darkness without God. The young brothers and sisters were not experienced, but they had a great desire in their hearts to preach the Gospel. The wave of revival in the early 1990s marked the beginning of a new life with Jesus Christ for hundreds of thousands of people in Ukraine and the countries of the former Soviet Union and shook the whole world. God encouraged some to go and preach, and others to bless and support those on the front lines. Thousands of missionaries can continue serving God and people thanks to the financial support of the Global Aid.

Children's camps

To capture the hearts of children, you need to give them time. The Bible says a lot about the importance of raising children and leading them in the right direction, and it was Jesus Christ who told that the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to children. But what about street children, orphans, or those children whose families don't know God? Who will tell them about God or guide them to the right path?

For this purpose, churches and missionaries have started ministry to children.

Such kind of ministry as children's camps has become very popular in the past 10 years. One-, three-, or five-day camps are a great opportunity for children from unbelieving families, as well as for orphans, to not only relax for free and have fun, but to get to know God through fellowship with teachers, studying Christian songs, watching Bible performances, as well as through a personal Bible, which each child usually receives as a gift at the end of the camp.

According to statistics, more than 20% of parents of all these children come to the Lord through their children. We believe that by working with children and adolescents, a new generation of young people will serve God and dedicate their lives to the missionary work.

Donating for children's camps is the same as sowing grain, which will eventually germinate and bear fruit.
